What if the diesel engine of the generator set fails?

When the diesel engine of the user's generator fails, the operator shall calmly and carefully analyze the characteristics of the fault and judge the cause in time.
Generally, the following principles shall be followed:
1) When there are abnormal phenomena in the operation of the diesel engine of the generator set, you can comprehensively judge which part or system has the fault by looking, listening, touching and smelling.
"Look" -- observe the reading of the protection instrument, the color of exhaust smoke and the changes of water and oil;
"Listening" -- using a slender metal rod or wooden handle driver as a "Stethoscope" to touch the corresponding parts of the diesel engine surface to "auscultate" the sound and its changes:
"Touch" -- check the working condition of valve train and other parts and the vibration of diesel engine by feeling with your fingers;
"Smell" -- smell out the abnormal smell of the diesel engine with the sense of smell
2) When the diesel engine of the generator set suddenly fails or the cause of the failure has been determined, and the failure will affect the normal operation of the diesel engine, it shall be stopped for inspection in time. For faults that cannot be found out immediately, the diesel engine can be operated at low speed and no-load first, and then the causes can be found out through observation and analysis, so as to avoid greater accidents after occurrence.
3) When it is judged that it is a major fault or the diesel engine suddenly stops by itself, it shall be disassembled, inspected and maintained in time.
4) The causes and troubleshooting of each fault, especially the major fault, shall be recorded in the operation book of the diesel engine for reference during the next maintenance.
