Many parts of the diesel generator set body are in the form of pressure seal, such as cylinder liner, piston, piston ring, supercharger and supercharger rotor shaft. This kind of seal generally plays a full role when the engine has about 1 / 3 load. If the generator operates under low load for a long time, the following faults will occur:

1. Blue smoke

The sealing of piston and cylinder liner is not good, the oil runs up, enters the combustion chamber for combustion, and the exhaust emits blue smoke.

2. The engine oil runs disorderly

For supercharged diesel engine, the supercharging pressure is low due to low load and no-load. It is easy to lead to the decline of the sealing effect of the supercharger oil seal, and the oil rushes into the supercharging chamber and enters the cylinder with the intake air.

3. Carbon deposit

Part of the engine oil flowing up to the cylinder is involved in combustion, part of the engine oil can not be completely burned, and carbon deposits are formed at the valves, inlet ports, piston crown, piston rings, etc., and some are discharged with the exhaust. In this way, engine oil will gradually accumulate in the exhaust passage of cylinder liner, and carbon will also be formed.

4. Leakage

When the oil in the supercharger accumulates to a certain extent, it will leak from the joint surface of the supercharger.

5. Component wear

Long term low load operation will lead to more serious consequences such as increased wear of moving parts and deterioration of engine combustion environment, leading to the advance of overhaul period.

According to the above situation, Raines reminded users to minimize the low load or no-load operation of the generator set, and stipulated that the minimum load should not be less than 25% - 30% of the rated power of the unit, so as to reduce the problems caused by low load.
