In February in Lingnan, it was warm and cold at first, and the construction sites of key projects everywhere were already busy. Recently, after about 13 months of intensive construction and more than one month of station system commissioning, the system commissioning of Dawan District flexible straight back-to-back project (Guangzhou Section) was officially started, laying a solid foundation for the scheduled production on March 30. The whole project is planned to be completed by the end of May this year. It is expected that the power transmission from west to East will not be less than 188.3 billion kwh in 2022.

Walking into the third floor of the main control building, looking through the special observation window, we can see that valve towers dozens of meters high are standing quietly. The valve hall on the east side of the unit where they are located has completed the live test. It is reported that Dawan District soft straight back-to-back project (Guangzhou Section) starts from December 30, 2020, and the overall progress is about 92%.

"The construction management of the whole project is very good, scientific, rigorous, serious and meticulous." Li Liwu, academician of the Chinese Academy of engineering and honorary chairman of the expert committee of China Southern Power Grid Corporation, said that the flexible DC back-to-back project in Dawan district has systematically solved the problems of excessive short-circuit current and high-frequency resonance by using new technical means such as flexible interconnection and asynchronous control, providing important support for the safe and stable operation of the power grid, It is of great significance to the development of the national and even the world power grid.

Zhu Bo, manager of Dawan District flexible straight back-to-back project (Guangzhou Section), added that after the project is completed and put into operation, the grid structure of Guangdong power grid will be further optimized. In Dawan District, the large power grid originally connected together has a "firewall" between each other through back-to-back projects to avoid "burning the camp".

"In other words, when a small area fails, it can be isolated quickly, control the scope of power failure in small areas, and avoid large-scale power failure, so as to reduce the risk of power grid, lay the foundation for large-scale consumption of follow-up new energy, and better serve the goal of carbon peak and carbon neutralization as scheduled." Zhu Bo said.

Next, Guangzhou Power Supply Bureau of Guangdong Power Grid Corporation will continue to strengthen on-site epidemic prevention and safety management, speed up project construction and commissioning, improve the physical quality of the project, and ensure that the project is put into operation on schedule with high quality.
